What is in my library? A collection of data science resources and books. There are so many out there but what is worth investing in? Which Data Science books are a must read. These are the best books I have found on topics that include Machine Learning, Data Analysis, Data Science and Statistical Analysis to name a few, have used amazon as the source, they may be found cheaper elsewhere, they are updated regularly and are in no particular order:
- Fundamentals of Machine Learning & Predictive Data Analytics – Kelleher, MacNamee, D’Arcy – Top of the list because it practical, excellently written and Irish.
- Statistical Analysis & Data Mining Applications – John Elder
- Machine Learning A Probabilistic Perspective by Kevin Murphy
- Machine Learning by Tom Mitchell
- Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning by Christopher Bishop
- Information Theory, Inference and Learning Algorithms by David MacKay
- Applied Predictive Modelling by Max Kuhn – This is a personal favourite, the writer of the R Caret package for Machine Learning made easy.
- An Introduction to Statistical Learning with Applications in R
- The Elements of Statistical Learning: Data Mining, Inference, and Prediction
- An Introduction to Applied Multivariate Analysis in R
- Bayesian Computation in R by Jim Albert
- Bayesian Reasoning and Machine Learning by David Barber
- Schaum’s Outlines Statistics -Such an important text for any statistician, this is a go to bible in my eyes.
- Predictive Analytics The Power to Predict Who Will Click, Buy, Lie, or Die by Eric Siegel – An amazing text that gives quantifiable metrics by which the value in data science and machine learning can be measured.
- Data Science for Business: What you need to know about data mining and data-analytic thinking
- Knowledge is Beautiful by David McCandless – A collection of some of the most inspiring books of our time in the area of data visualisation.
- Information is Beautiful by David McCandless
- Information Dashboard Design – Stephen Few
- Show Me The Numbers – Stephen Few
- Now You See It – Stephen FewSignal – Stephen Few
